What I find rapidly becoming evident is that even with the Orange Man Ascendant, the Once and Future President, and even with a slim majority of "conservatives" in both chambers of Congress, it is impossible to imagine how this ship can be turned around in America under the framework and rules Trump has to abide by.
This is a very interesting article. It is easy to forget how different we all are and the kind of things that form our opinions. We are told that in the U.S., the white population will be the minority by 2050. I'm glad I am old, but glad I took the time to read this.
Another great piece. That DND email is beyond pathetic, and emblematic of the profound institutional rot everywhere in this country.
And your quote about uni degrees and nothing to show for it is spot on. I worked at two major universities in Toronto for more than a decade and the degradation of instruction and calibre of students was obvious each year behind my reference desk. I hope the entire system self-immolates as soon as possible.
Wow. Great article! Learned a lot of Canadian history in a short frame of time. JD Vance’s book is set in same county my mom grew up in-but in the Depression/ WW2. She grew up a dirt-poor orphan & was seriously abused. Met him; and he reminds me of her! They’re humble yet ambitious to change things. I think all the Leftists claiming they will move to Canada don’t know what you just laid out here.
Amazing that all those CAF/DND emails were being sent around while we were in the middle of lockdowns and "vaccine" mandates - the biggest attack Canada has ever seen on its own soil.
But I'm not surprised.
I used to work for another fed agency in the aughts, and we used to get all kinds of emails about politically correct topics, like embracing homosexuality. What it had to do with our actual job functions was always lost on me... though now I understand our "function" was to help usher in the upcoming neo-Marxist utopia.
Glad I'm not the only one who had that experience in the English school system in Montreal. My parents had taught me pretty well before starting school, so I remember being exposed to leftist ideas in first grade and understanding that you were supposed to say the opposite of what was true to be cool lmao.
We also had self-segregation in my highschool. I remember the "Jew Crew" and "Brown Town" being explicit about it, other groups like the blacks and Italians quietly hanging out with their own, and the rest of us just hanging around together without explicitly thinking about it in an identitarian way
I was a West coaster and seeing the Quebec situation was like being on Mars. Mafia and racial tensions etc. I have a closer connection to the train orphans than the pir ligne, but it sounds about right now that I'm in Toronto.
Once you leave Vancouver it is starting to hit a boiling point in the west also.
The solution is complicated at this point, and becoming more complicated by the month. I propose that this situation is not by accident but by design of those who would destroy the West. However, there are solutions which are win-win to the original settlers and the newer ones, whether carefully selected or forcibly injected.
You are of english and french extraction but there is no such thing as an anglo-french identity. I find your use of the term to be misleading and not representative of how identity generally works in Quebec. If you have French Canadian heritage but do not speak fluent French, you are a sort of lost cause and it is shameful for your family. I am curious if you have experienced this…
Thank you for your comment. I have experienced this as well, and there’s something for sure to the idea that language delivers culture. The issue is that, Quebec nationalism itself has undergone multiple revisions, and today is defined by the Baby Boomer liberal nationalists of the 1960s Quiet Revolution. This secular, left-leaning chauvinism is not, and never has been sustainable, nor was it the historic norm in Canada.
The “fathers of French Canadian nationalism” like Henri Bourassa and Lionel Groulx, while believing in protecting French culture and identity in Quebec, were aggressive nationalists for all of Canada. Bourassa and people like him were some of the first to push Canada First policies, like taking an anti-war stance, opposing conscription, and aggressively pushing Anglo-Canadian and French Canadian unity. Groulx rejected alliance with the Anglo, but was an ethnic nationalist and believed blood and culture defined a French Canadian.
Quebecois identity today is only slightly less confusing as Anglo-Canadian identity— Quebec nationalists have convinced themselves that Haitians, Algerians and Tunisians are “just as French as we are”, while Anglo-Quebecers who built a third of the province, intermarried with them, and co-habited with them for centuries are foreigners. They can’t decide if being “pur laine” in blood with roots back to the Filles du Roi makes a person Quebecois, or if speaking French, owning a piece of paper, and being born on magic dirt does.
This confusion didn’t exist before the 1960s. Most Quebecers referred to themselves as French Canadian—my own grandfather did. Today we use “Quebecois” for simplicity’s sake, but this also comes from the 1960s.
Thank you for your reponse! I agree with you that secular chauvinism is not sustainable, I think it is a very obviously a dead end. A cursory review of the École Bedford controversy proves this. I also agree with you that “Quebecois” is a recent term, canadien français is more accurate. Although having to qualify it with français is also an innovation of sorts, because the colonists of new france were just les canadiens at a certain point.
I would enjoy to live in a world where english and french canadians can peacefully coexist in one state, but Lionel Groulx was correct in seeing that this is very difficult if not impossible. If the monarchism had stayed it might have been possible but I think fundamentally there have always been two countries that share one nation.
The state of “quebecois” identity is very depressing. I think that originally nationalists were disguising ethnic separatism under language policy but now too many of them have drunk the coolaid and are pretending that africans can somehow be integrated. But fundamentally most french canadians are still very ethnocentric and racist by the standard of most western countries. I think the anglicization rates which are being more and more discussed will be a wake up call. This wake up will not help however unless we can stop being morally bankrupt hedonists.
The problem i see english canadians running into now is that they are getting very ethnically mixed, especially in ontario. A lot of mixing with italians and eastern europeans and even asians. Ultimately this will have disastrous consequences as it has in america. I have seen some promising things coming from some “heritage canadians” however.
On the note of Anglo-Canadiens intermixing with white ethnics who aren’t Canadien, I broke down some of the numbers in my latest article. You will be surprised to know they are still overwhelmingly homogenous
Montreal, was a hotbed of identitarian conflict, with identities of all parties affirmed constantly. Constant recognition of what defined us, them, them over there, them who’re friends sometimes, and sometimes not, was widespread.

Sounds based.
Toronto defaults to a liberal mono culture since every ethnos has its own suburb.
Montreal forces everyone together due to the island geography.

Overall, my influences have always been a synthesis of old and new ideas. I don’t believe we can go back—only forward.

Then don't.

Glad to hear that!

Exactly, I used to also read Radix.

Anglo-French Canadians are a new ethnos but not a new 'people'.
The British and Gallic Gods are similar no?
The Norse also wore dark blue like the Khalsa does.
