It’s been a crazy last three months for the “nothing ever happens” crowd.
Concerns over Arctic sovereignty and the security of Arctic shipping lanes by the slowly declining American Empire have unleashed fury in discourse on all sides. A small but vocal minority within Canada, who’ve currently monopolized much of the Canadian presence on X, have been pushing for annexation since President Donald J. Trump won the 2024 federal election. What’s clear is that the U.S. is attempting to course-correct—though not a counter-revolution, but a Thermidorian or Khrushchevian-like reaction to curb the excesses of its cultural revolution post-WWII. DOGE is cleaning house and attempting to trim the fat. Trump has ordered all federal employees back into their dismal cubicles, probably knowing this would demoralize leftist subversives in the state apparatus. One quick look at the federal employees’ subreddit indicates many, aside from pissing and moaning, fully intend to dig in, remain entrenched, and sabotage the government, with some calling for death. Hopefully, these will be investigated by the FBI and Homeland Security.
Recently, I wrote an article explaining to my Canadian viewers—and to any onlookers—how and why a merger with the U.S. was a bad idea. The 14,000-word essay includes everything from demographics to crime to labour market prospects and argues from the nationalist point of view that the dissolution of the Canadian state won’t only lead to the total abolition of sovereignty but quite possibly the dissolution of the Canadian people themselves.
